Here’s how: Create a nook that’s beautiful, cozy, and inviting for your little one. Add soft pillows or a rug for a comforting touch. Choose a forward-facing shelf that displays books at a height your toddler can reach independently. You can arrange books in baskets on the floor, as well. Less is more. Display a few books at a time, and rotate them regularly to hold your child’s interest. Select books that are rooted in reality with photographs and relatable storylines. Model reading. @regentlodge Reading nook it’s not totally finished as I still have a few bits to add but it’s close enough & I’ve never been good at “reveals” A big thank you to the masses who messaged saying this corner was crying out for a nook. I was saying a hard no to Kev when he was suggesting to make one & I started to listen when lots of others were saying the same thing. I pictured a chest of drawers in this space but I’m so glad I listened I still need to decide on fabric for a seat cushion & we have a few finishing touches to add but you get the idea. There are shelves on the right for books & toys, underseat storage (with a soft close lid - a must!) & a reading light. I have some decorations to add to the ceiling when I get a moment. I should have waited until then to show you but as I’m sure you’re already aware if you know about my chocolate habit, I have no willpower A big shout out to Louie who did lots of hammering, hoovering & general noise & mess creation throughout.
